The Times have an interesting article on their site today demonising video games.
After reading, and laughing out loud many many times… I couldn’t help but wince at the prospects for the author’s career. I know that when I was a journalist, if I’d written something as innacurate, misinformed and ill-researched - my job would have been in jeopardy.
The writer obviously has had no experience of video games in any form, and has also never bothered to even research her chosen topic to bash. Thanks to this, she’s made herself out to be pretty stupid… and having a quick flick through the (at the time of posting) 137 comments, its obvious that 99% of readers feel the same.
I’ve just been fiddling with my blog and noticed a comment on one of my posts from me… or what I thought was me anyway.
So I check the comment, and its not me - its another James Buckingham that lives up in Aberdeen, and he runs thebuckinghamfamily.co.uk. Now if you check the site… its a wordpress blog it looks like a wordpress blog… but isn’t… yet it uses the same theme as mine! Weird huh? :)
Anyway, should any other Buckinghams around the world come across my blog… feel free to leave a comment to say hi etc… its always interesting to investigate possible relatives etc. Oh - and if your name is also James Buckingham, please comment… we could get a little Dave Gorman-esque experiment going on. :D
The hype machine for Chris Nolan’s The Dark Knight is in full swing, the latest offering being a nice T-Shirt & playing card promo set - I saw it on empireonline.com a few moments ago, and had to share…. after all… I WANT ONE!
Empire said: “The t-shirt pictured below was sent to John Mayer, a singer of slightly durgey songs but actually a very witty writer, and we’re presuming it’s a Warner Bros promo. They were probably hoping he’d wear it somewhere and stir some more whisperings among fans (guess it worked).”
Get him the Blade Runner: Ultimate Collector’s Edition… thats how! :)
This is what my mate Rich did while he was in Toronto, inadvertantly rendering himself skint, so I owe him big! (feel free to post suggestions on how)
This DVD set has to be one of, if not the best DVD box set I’ve seen in recent years - not content with housing one of the most influential sci-fi movies ever… there’s 4 different versions of the movie contained (including the rare work print version)… among a whole host of other goodies.
In true movie geek fashion, I had an un-boxing (I know it devalued the set, but I’m a movie whore, not a big-time collector)… and here are the pics - apologies for the shitty quality… that will improve in February when I get my LG Viewty. ;)
*edit*
The picasa slideshow I was using really sucked, and the photos I took appeared to be really bad quality, so I’ll re-photograph the set, and use my flickr account instead. ;)
