This is an amazing presentation of a head tracking display for VR desktops using the Nintendo Wii remote… why this dude hasn’t been employed by Ninty is beyond me!
Thanks to Gethin for mentioning this to me - god knows why I hadn’t seen it before.
I know, I know…. sounds like a dodgy question, huh? ;)
Clerks writer & director Kevin Smith got this Christmas’ must-have gift this year, but he did it so much better than everyone else. Designer Ramon Stokes was hired to create a custom Wii - and putting no less than 60 hours of work into it!
Here’s what Stokes said on his official blog:
“The Wii was painted using flat gray scale colors to match the black and white clerks characters. The stand features the main characters each back-lit with two “stage lights” that beam up to highlight the custom 3D Clerks logo. The opposite side has a specially back-lit logo of his production company. Finally, the controllers were painstakingly hand painted letter by letter to feature his name one controller and his most famous alter ego on the second. As a most respectful nod to his writing, the font was meant to look like one an old typewriter might use.”
I’ve just read a Eurogamer review of Super Mario Galaxy, generously giving the game 10/10… which is encouraging for the Wii - Ninty pulling through once more (Cheers to Ninty fanboy Ricey for linkage ;) ).
However the review’s kinda left a stale taste in my mouth… and I’ve come to realise that what I read a while back on Digg is so true… Gaming reviews suck.
